Thacker Charities

The Till Thacker, III Memorial Charity Fund

In loving memory of a cherished Colt 45's member and respected Houston community leader, we support worthy charities and organizations that are not specifically delegated by our other Funds. Grant recipients from this Fund are generally AIDS and HIV-related organizations, but we also support other worthy community efforts.

Within this fund we are able to house restricted funds, with which we help with, burial assistance, food pantry funds, hurricane relief, and other short term grants to individuals and other charities as needed.

Through the use of other "Restricted" funds, this Charity has also been used to help shelter, teach and encourage other emerging not-for-profit charities, such as the Lady Victoria Lust PWA Holiday Charity, which was incorporated and granted its own 501(c)(3) status in 1997 as the PWA Holiday Charities, and others as well.

If moneys are donated to a specific Charitable Fund, they can not be moved to another Fund - regardless of the need at hand. We guarantee that each and every dollar donated to a specific Fund will stay in that Fund and be used for the purpose for which it was donated. There are no exceptions. This is also true of any "Restricted Fund" within a specific Charitable Fund (such as personal item expenses or burial expenses.) Any and all administrative cost is borne by The Colt 45's through our monthly dues and minor fund-raising activities, such as bartending and "drag" shows. Administrative Funds are kept in a separate "Working Account" to make sure that our goal of 100% Charity is maintained without fail.

We have extensive regular audits and  reports, headed by the internal audit committee. These audits are reviewed at our very open regular membership meetings that we invite the public to attend. We are lucky to have many distinguished guests visit us each month. This ensures that each and every project that The Colt 45's undertakes is done absolutely above board and with aplomb. Our generous donors, and most especially, our clients deserve no less than our very best. We are our own worst critics, but the reputation of The Colt 45's for the equitable distribution of charitable funds to people with AIDS is without equal, nationwide.
